Though it missed its chance at being a fashionable summer destination, Barnegat City (later called Barnegat Light) was able to hold on to much of the small town seashore charm that eluded most others. This film explores the history of Barnegat Lighthouse — the shore's most venerable and beloved landmark —and gives us a glimpse into the evolution of a shore town that has weathered countless storms, devastating erosion, innumerable shipwrecks, and offered itself and its bounty to fishermen, hunters, and vacationers, all under the beam of the Barnegat Lighthouse.
Featuring Long Beach Island's historian John Bailey Lloyd, as well as New Jersey historian Thomas P. Farner and lighthouse historian Bill Gately, with narration by former Surflight Theatre director Guil Fisher and period music played exclusively by local musicians.
